Reinhard Dyk

Reinhard Dyk (born September 19, 1945 in Münzbach ) is a retired Upper Austrian civil servant and Linz city politician ( ÖVP ).

Life and education

Dyk graduated from the Linz Commercial Academy in 1963 , studied social economics at the Johannes Kepler University Linz from 1966 to 1970 and received his doctorate there in 1976. From 1970 to 1988 he was in the service of the Upper Austrian provincial government, where he was responsible for housing subsidies and spatial planning .

Political activity

From 1973 he was ÖVP municipal council , from 1988 cultural councilor and from 2001 to 2003 Vice Mayor of the City of Linz .

From 1988 he was responsible for the agendas of road and bridge construction, lighting and surveying, and from 1991 to 2001 for cultural affairs, and from 1997 also for urban parks, gardens and green spaces.

During his tenure, the Ars Electronica Center was opened in 1996 and the Lentos Art Museum in 2003 . In 1998 Linz was the European Month of Culture. With the creation of a cultural development plan and its work as a city culture council, Linz became a model for other cities in this area.

Examples of renovations and revitalization under his responsibility are the renovation of the KulTurm on the Pöstlingberg , the revitalization of the former people's kitchen into an architecture museum.
