Reinhard Höpfl

Reinhard Höpfl (born January 21, 1947 in Cham , Upper Palatinate) is a German physicist .

Career

Höpfl studied physics at the University of Regensburg from 1971 to 1976 . From 1976 he prepared his doctorate at the University of Bayreuth , which he presented in 1981. He then worked for KWU in Erlangen. From 1982 to 1984 he was a research assistant at the Technical University of Munich , from 1985 a scientific adviser at the Institute for Applied Geodesy in Frankfurt am Main. In 1988 he came to the Regensburg University of Applied Sciences as a professor in the electrical engineering department and was head of the Regensburg Application Center there in 1995/96 .

In 1996 , just two years after the Deggendorf University of Applied Sciences was founded, he was appointed President . At that time there were just 286 students in eight courses. By the time he left, Höpfl turned this into a university with around 4,600 students in 17 Bachelor and 17 Master’s courses. In the summer semester of 2012 , Peter Sperber succeeded him after 16 years in this position .

Since January 1, 2009 he has been President of the VDI State Association of Bavaria.
