Reinhard Kluge (archivist)

Reinhard Kluge (born July 11, 1933 in Dresden ) is a German archivist and historian . He was a university professor and from 1965 to 1990 deputy head of the State Archives Administration in the Ministry of the Interior of the German Democratic Republic , from which the Central Archives Office of the GDR emerged.

Life

After schooling studied Kluge in 1952 at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig , at the Faculty on December 31, 1960 where he became Dr. phil. received his doctorate. The topic of his unpublished dissertation was: Prince, Chamber and Privy Council in Electoral Saxony from the middle of the 16th to the beginning of the 18th century . In 1956/57 he worked at the Institute for Archive Studies in Potsdam, in 1958 at the Dresden State Archives and from 1960 to 1963 at the State Archives Administration of the GDR. Then he was at the main state archive in Dresdenactive and headed the department Capitalism there from 1964/65. Kluge received a professorship at the Academy for State and Law of the GDR and acted from 1965 to 1990 as deputy head of the state archive administration under Roland Leipold and Günter Herzog .

At the Humboldt University in Berlin from 1972 to 1990 he gave courses for direct and distance students in the Department of Archival Studies , headed by Botho Brachmann , of the History Section, the former Institute for Archives.

He later took part in the publication of all of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's works in the Deutsches Klassiker-Verlag in Berlin. In Rechenberg-Bienenmühle in Erzgebirge he sat down to rest.

Kluge was a member of the SED and is now a member of the local branch of the party Die Linke in Brand-Erbisdorf .
