Reinhard Roy

Reinhard Roy (born August 30, 1948 in Klitten ) is a German painter and sculptor . The dominant element of his formal language and image design has been the grid since 1986 . His work can be assigned to Concrete Art .

Life

Roy was born in Klitten, Lower Silesia. After graduating from high school, Roy trained as a lathe operator in Waggonbau Niesky and then worked, among other things, in a glass factory. From 1969 to 1974 he studied industrial design with Ilse Decho and Lothar Zitzmann at the Burg Giebichenstein Art College in Halle and graduated with a diploma. From 1979 to 1983 he worked as an external expert at the Office for Design in Berlin.

In 1983 he moved to Frankfurt am Main . From 1984 to 2010 Roy was an external employee in the fields of art, design and architecture for the KfW banking group. From 1995 to 1999 he taught “Color and Design” at the Wiesbaden University of Applied Sciences . During the service of Federal President Horst Köhler , Roy's two-part steel sculpture was set up in the park of Bellevue Palace . From 1976 Roy took on jury activities, design and art equipment projects.

His works are in international public and private collections.

  • 1976 Prize from the Office for Design in Berlin.
  • 1987 Daniel Henry Kahnweiler Prize for painting and graphics from the German Kahnweiler Foundation.
