Reinhard Slenczka

Reinhard Slenczka (born February 16, 1931 in Kassel ) is an Evangelical Lutheran theologian.

Life

Slenczka studied theology , philosophy and Slavic studies in Marburg, Tübingen, Heidelberg and Paris from 1951 to 1956 . In Marburg and Tübingen he became a member of the local Wingolf associations , from which he left after his studies. After the first exam he completed the vicariate in the Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck . On April 30, 1960 he received his doctorate with Edmund Schlink at the University of Heidelberg with the topic The unity of the church as a dogmatic problem in the newer Eastern Church theology . Under the care of Schlink, whose assistant was Slenczka, he also completed his habilitation on a christological topic at Heidelberg University in 1966 . Reinhard Slenczka has translated many works from Russian since the 1950s. After completing his habilitation, he received his first professorship in Bern . From 1970 to 1981 he was professor for systematic theology at the University of Heidelberg . From 1981 until his retirement in 1996 he held the chair for Systematic Theology II ( Apologetics ) at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and was involved in the spiritual care of students at the Martin Luther Association.

Slenczka's areas of work are ecumenism , dogmatics and ethics. After his retirement , he accepted a call to Riga , where he headed the pastoral theological training of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Latvia as rector of the Luther Academy in Riga.

From 1981 to 1995 Reinhard Slenczka was editor of the magazine Kerygma und Dogma (Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht Göttingen).

Slenczka is the grandson of the historian Karl Heldmann . His son is the Berlin theologian Notger Slenczka , also a professor of systematic theology. Reinhard Slenczka's students include: a. Reiner Andreas Neuschäfer , Harald Seubert , Karsten Lehmkühler , Eberhard Hahn , Gottfried Martens and Armin Wenz .
