Reinhard "Dicky" Tarrach (born September 21, 1944 in Hamburg ) is a German drummer and synthesizer player .

biography

According to his parents' wishes, Tarrach was to pursue a career as an official . However, he decided on an artistic life path. In 1962 he hired the drummer for the beat band The Rattles , which was particularly successful in Germany and had various hits. With this group, to which Achim Reichel also belonged, he accompanied a. a. The Beatles on their legendary BRAVO Beatles blitz tour . In 1968 he and Reichel left the band and formed a group called Wonderland , with which they soon had two hit singles, Moscow and Boomerang .

In 1972 Tarrach was one of the founding members of the Hamburg band Randy Pie , which received national attention with the song Highway Driver . In 1977 he switched to Rudolf Rock & die Schocker , of which he remained until 1981, together with the studio musicians Michael Cretu , Manfred "Tissy" Thiers and Nils Tuxen , the synth-pop project Moti Special . It wasn't until 1985 that the musicians had two top 10 hits in Germany and Switzerland with Cold Days, Hot Nights and Don't Be so Shy .

In addition, Tarrach appeared for the first time as a soloist and published the title Sioux (Indian Hymn) as Dicky Tarrach. Thomas Gottschalk used the synthesizer instrumental piece as weather music in his B3 radio show and made it famous. The next studio project in which a synthesizer was responsible for the sound was called Taracco (later Tarracco). The most famous track was Sultana , a cover version of the hit of the same name by the hard rock band Titanic . Peter Illmann used the song as the theme music for his ZDF programs PIT - Peter-Illmann-Treff and Peters Pop Show .

As a drummer Tarrach was z. B. in 1981 on the recordings for Arabesque's long player Arabesque V / VI and in 1983 on Peter Schilling's album Fehler im System and the English version Error in the System . In 1988 Tarrach returned to the Rattles, with whom he still performs today. In 1990 he revived the Moti Special project with Nils Tuxen and two new musicians, Anders Mossberg and Frank Ardahl.
