Reinhard Wittenberg

Reinhard Wittenberg (born August 22, 1945 in Hildesheim ) is a German sociologist , scientific author and teaches sociology at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg .

Life

Reinhard Wittenberg grew up in Hanover . After graduating from high school , he studied sociology in Hanover , Münster and Bielefeld ; he acquired the academic degree of a qualified sociologist. He was then promoted to Dr. sc. pol. PhD . He is married and has two daughters.

Scientific career

After working as a research assistant at the universities of Bielefeld, Essen , Cologne and Hagen , Wittenberg was appointed academic (senior) councilor at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg in 1983; Wittenberg has been the Academic Director since 1998.

Reinhard Wittenberg's scientific focus lies in the social science fields of methodology and methods of empirical social research , sociology of science , anti-Semitism research , area studies and public health . Reinhard Wittenberg emerged as a scientist through an extensive oeuvre of scientific writings that undertook to integrate methodological, theoretical and empirical problems. The work of Reinhard Wittenberg stands in the tradition of the structural-individualistic school within sociology, as it was developed by Günter Büschges .

Wittenberg is also particularly committed as a lecturer, in that he has built up a network to support graduates in finding an academic career as a mentor.

Reinhard Wittenberg is a member of the Professional Association of German Sociologists and the German Society for Sociology .
