history
The place name probably goes back to a personal name. In 1180 there is evidence of a Reginhardus in nearby Sulzdorf, who possibly later founded the hamlet. In 1317 the Counts of Henneberg were wealthy there, and they transferred their property to a Fritz Landmann. In 1340 the hamlet came to the Maßbach district court in the county of Henneberg. Reinhardshausen does not have its own district , but is part of the Altenmünster area.
Altenmünster and Sulzdorf were closely connected with Reinhardshausen as early as the Middle Ages . The pastor had to commute between the two places on Sundays. The flagellants often carried too much water, so that the entire area was turned into a swamp. Therefore, before 1574, the communities built the so-called Pfaffensteig , a wooden high walkway. In 1810 it was reinforced with stones. Today a way of the cross by the artist Hubert Knobling shows the old connection.
