Reinhold Schwarz (psychoanalyst)

Reinhold Schwarz (born May 10, 1946 in Brackenheim , Württemberg ; † November 20, 2008 in Leipzig ) was a German psychoanalyst and doctor . He taught at the University of Leipzig and was professor of social medicine there from 1998 to 2008 . He was a founding member and longstanding spokesman for the scientific working group for psycho-oncology of the German Cancer Society .

academic career

Reinhold Schwarz studied medicine and social sciences in Marburg , Munich , Mannheim , Heidelberg and London . In 1972 he passed his medical state examination and received the degree of doctor of medicine. In 1981 he received the additional designation "Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis", in 1988 the additional designation social medicine, and in 1995 the field designation (specialist) "Psychotherapeutic Medicine". In 1991 he completed his habilitation and received the venia legendi for the subjects "Clinical Psychosomatics and Social Medicine".

Professional background

Until 1974, Reinhold Schwarz was a medical assistant in internal medicine, dermatology, child and adolescent psychiatry at the University Clinic in Marburg, as well as a surgical medical assistant and assistant doctor at the clinic for sports injuries in Lüdenscheid- Hellersen . From 1975 to 1981 he was a research assistant at the Central Institute for Mental Health in Mannheim, Heidelberg University , at the Psychosomatic Clinic in the DFG special research area 116 "Psychiatric Epidemiology". Until 1984 he worked as a research assistant on the model project of the Deutsche Krebshilfe eV "Psychosocial aftercare facility and advanced training seminar", also at the Heidelberg University Hospital. From 1984 to 1997 he headed this facility. In 1998 he was appointed to the professorship for social medicine at the University of Leipzig . He headed the social medicine department there and the psychosocial counseling center for tumor patients and relatives until his death on November 20, 2008.
