Reitsch is a village in the municipality of Stockheim in the Upper Franconian district of Kronach in Bavaria with almost 700 inhabitants.

history

The place was mentioned for the first time in 1180. Reitsch was owned by Thuringian nobles. In the 17th century, coal was mined in the area known as the Büttnerszeche .

In 1870 the name of what was then Raitsch was officially changed to Reitsch .

On January 1, 1975, the Reitsch community, consisting of the church village Reitsch and the hamlet of Büttnerszeche, was incorporated into the community of Stockheim.

Holy Cross Church

In 1933 a church building association was founded, which from 1952 had the Holy Cross Church built in place of a chapel from 1894. On August 2, 1953, Archbishop of Bamberg, Joseph Otto Kolb, consecrated the church. In 1970/71 an extension followed with the addition of two side wings according to plans by the Kronach architect Baptist Detsch and in 1976 the 25.5 meter high bell tower. In 1992 the Reitsch branch church was changed from Neukenroth to Glosberg .
