René Baur (born January 19, 1985 in San Candido ) is a former Italian ice hockey goalkeeper who was last under contract with SG Cortina in the A1 series .

Career

René Baur began his career as a ice hockey player at HC Pustertal , for whose professional team he was active from 2002 to 2006 in the A1 series , the top Italian division, and the second-class A2 series . The goalkeeper spent the 2006/07 season at his league rivals SHC Fassa before he played for the WSV Sterzing Broncos from 2007 to 2009 . Then he was in two years for the second division HC Meran between the posts. For the 2011/12 season he returned to Serie A1, where he received a contract with SG Cortina . With his team he won the Coppa Italia straight away . He ended his active career after the 2013/14 season.

International

For Italy , Baur took part in the junior division of the U18 Junior B World Championships in 2002 and 2003 and the U20 Junior B World Championships in 2003 , 2004 and 2005 .

In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the B World Championships in 2004 and 2005 and at the A World Championship in 2006 . He also represented Italy at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin . In the senior sector, he was not used as the third goalkeeper in all four tournaments.
