Career

Youth and club career

Summer began his career as an active football goalkeeper in March 1996 in Wallern, Burgenland, in the youth department of the USC Wallern located there . After several years in youth and after completing various youth league classes, Summer was accepted into the BNZ (Federal Youth Center ) Burgenland in 2002. Parallel to the BNZ, Summer was also registered with the Wallern club. After the young goalkeeper left the federal youth center in 2005, he immediately switched to SC / ESV Parndorf .

There he came from the 2005/06 season behind Andreas Markl as the second goalkeeper to his first missions for the first combat team of the club based in the third-class Regionalliga Ost (RLO). Since his team and regional league debut, the then 19-year-old gave on the Austrian national holiday, May 1, 2006, in a 2-1 away win over the amateurs of FC Admira Wacker Mödling . Summer played seven games from the 24th to the 30th round, six of which were won and the last game of the season ended in a 0-0 draw.

After the good performance, Summer and his team ranked first in the final table of the Regionalliga Ost, closely followed by SKN St. Pölten and Vienna and thus rose to the first division , the second highest division in Austria. Two years earlier, the team had been promoted to the second division, but without Summers participation, but relegated again after only one season. During the professional season 2006/07 the young goalkeeper came to a total of three championship appearances ; all three ended in a draw.

He made his professional debut in the first round on August 1, 2006 in a 2-2 home draw against FC Lustenau 07 . On his second assignment, just three days later, Summer received a yellow card for foul play . In the tenth round of the 2006/07 season, the native of Burgenland made his third and so far last professional appearance. In the summer break before the 2007/08 season he moved to SC Neusiedl am See , whose combat team also has their game operations in the RLO. After Thomas Fasching , the team's previous goalkeeper, ended his career due to age, Summer advanced to the 1-goalie of the regional league team from Neusiedl am See and made 22 league appearances. Only during the last games of the season did he give way to Adolf Kaiser, who was almost three years younger to the day, and who gained practical experience and experience with the stakes.

Also in the 2008/09 season , Summer was the regular goalkeeper of the team that reached eighth place in the previous season and was placed directly in the middle of the table. In 2008/09 he made 20 championship appearances, completed the other ten, like his colleague Adolf Kaiser before. After the team occupied a relegation place at the end of the season with the 14th of 16 places, relegation to the fourth division could only be prevented because no team had to relegate from the second division first division to the Regionalliga Ost.

Due to rather poor performance during the entire previous season, Summer was replaced as the first goalkeeper in the 2009/10 season by his teammate Adolf Kaiser, who practically swapped positions with him and thus demoted Summer to the substitute goalkeeper. To date, the now 22-year-old has only made two championship appearances, with only one substitute coming on as a substitute goalkeeper.
