Renate Seelig

Renate Seelig (born May 29, 1938 in Bielefeld ; † October 18, 2018 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German illustrator and children's book illustrator .

Life

After finishing school, she studied textile design at the art academies in Kassel and Hamburg. Her professional career began in the 1970s, when she worked as a freelancer for the advertising agencies Thompson , McCann Erickson , Ogilvie and Saatschi and Saatschi.

She later started as an illustrator and worked for various publishers, including Ellermann , Ravensburger , Ars Edition , Gabriel Verlag, Herder and Brockhaus . Renate Seelig has illustrated more than 100 books, including the fairy tale book published by Gerstenberg Verlag , the Rhine fairy tales by Brentano and the children's rock house .

Books illustrated by Renate Seelig have been translated into many languages. Her illustrations have been shown to the public in exhibitions in Bologna , Tokyo , London , Casablanca and many cities in Germany. Her characters can be found on the ZDF programs “ Siebenstein ” and “ Löwenzahn ”.

Renate Seelig lived and worked in Frankfurt and in Tangier / Morocco.
