Renier Nijskens

Renier Nijskens (born September 20, 1949 in Dinant ) is a Belgian diplomat .

Life

Nijskens studied social and political science (as a student he was a member of the Olivaint Conference of Belgium ), entered the foreign service in 1974, was accredited in Baghdad , Kinshasa , Kuwait , Tunis and Ottawa . In 1989 he was ambassador to Niamey . From 1994 to 1998, based in Nairobi , he was also accredited by the government of the Seychelles . From August 19, 1998 to 2000, he was ambassador to Seoul , South Korea . In 2003 he celebrated the 172nd return of the swearing-in of Leopold I on July 21, 1831 in La Gombe in the Democratic Republic of the Congo with around a thousand guests. With the Institute for Multiparty Democracy (IMD), he is committed to promoting democratic conditions. From November 25, 2000 to July 24, 2004 he was Ambassador to Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. From 2008 he headed the Asia and Oceania department in the Belgian Foreign Ministry . From March 10, 2011 to 2014, he was the successor to Mark Geleyn as ambassador at the Belgian Embassy in Berlin.
