Rentokill was a punk / hardcore punk band from Wiener Neustadt - Austria .
Career
The band was formed in late 1996. In 1999 the band released their first demo and in 2001 their second demo "6 Days" followed. Both releases were produced by the band themselves and sold at their concerts. Her first album Back To Convenience was released in 2004 as a CD on the Graz hc / punk label Rise or Rust Records and as an orange-colored, transparent vinyl on Broken Heart Records from Bruck an der Leitha. Through tireless touring and making new contacts to England and Germany, Back To Convenience was re- released in 2005 by Vitaminepillen Records from Germany and Engineer Records from England (and the USA). A three-week headlining tour through England and Scotland followed in February to March 2005, followed by a tour through Holland with the befriended Dutch band Antillectual .
In the spring of 2006 the band began recording their new album. Shortly thereafter, another tour of the UK (including with PMX ) and a tour of Croatia and Slovenia (including with Astpai ) followed. The new album AntiChorus was released on May 18, 2007 on RUDE Records (CD) and Broken Heart Records (vinyl). In early 2009 the band toured various European countries with Rise Against and Strike Anywhere , followed by their first Canada tour with the Canadian punk rock band High Five Drive .
On June 17, 2010 it was announced via their official Myspace or Facebook page that all upcoming shows, including a US tour, will be canceled for personal reasons and the band will be taking a break for an indefinite period. On December 20, 2012, the band also announced the final split on their Facebook page.
In May 2017 Rentokill performed in the Arena in Vienna for the first time in 6 years. Further appearances are uncertain.
Music genre
The band plays a mix of punk and hardcore punk , some of which also include other styles of music. Most of their songs are characterized by a fairly fast tempo. Rentokill sing in English only and the lyrics are mostly political. Among other things, the band advocates vegetarianism , veganism , animal rights and human rights in their lyrics .
