House of Representatives
The House of Representatives is an organ of the legislature . It usually refers to the lower house in a parliament that consists of two chambers . The House of Lords is often called the Senate in this case . However, there are also countries in which the parliament consists of only one chamber and is known as the House of Representatives.
There are both representative democracies and constitutional monarchies that have a House of Representatives.
The bicameral system serves as a mutual corrective for the decisions of parliament.
In the Federal Republic of Germany, the Bundestag and Bundesrat take on this function in a comparable manner . However, only the Bundestag forms parliament, while the Bundesrat, as the representation of the federal states, is not a chamber of parliament.
