Resist the Thought is an Australian deathcore and metalcore band from Sydney that was founded in 2007, disbanded in 2013 and has been active again since 2018.

history

The band was formed in 2007 in western Sydney. After a self- released EP in 2009 under the name The Gift of Sacrifice , they went on tour with The Red Shore , The Acacia Strain , Suicide Silence and All Shall Perish . In 2010, the debut album Damnation was released via New Justice Records . In March 2012 the band went to the USA to record the second album with producer Dan Castleman at Lambesis Studios in Escondido , California . The album features Hernan "Eddie" Hermida from All Shall Perish and Chris "CJ" McMahon from Thy Art Is Murder as guest vocalists. The album was released in the same year on Skull and Bones Records under the name Sovereignty . A DVD was enclosed with the publication , which contains two film clips and a documentary on the recording process of the album. In November 2013 the band broke up. Since 2018 the band has been active again with a different line-up. Set Me Free was released as a single .

style

Kane_H from killyourstereo.com wrote in his review of Sovereignty that the band used Metalcore song structures and made more frequent excursions into Extreme Metal . The songs are almost always loud and fast. The songs are characterized by deep riffs , a constant tempo and guttural singing . The music is suitable for fans of As I Lay Dying , All Shall Perish and Impending Doom . Steven Pongrac from megustareviews.com also reviewed the album and classified the band as deathcore and metalcore. He especially noticed the guitar solos . Otherwise breakdowns , distinctive, often deep vocals, fast drumming and riffs reminiscent of deathcore bands from the mid-2000s would make up the songs.
