Resolution 1985 of the UN Security Council was on 10 June 2011. Recalling the resolutions 825 , 1540 , 1695 , 1718 , 1874 , 1887 and 1928 adopted. The aforementioned resolutions all deal with the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and are mostly related to North Korea .

The Security Council reiterated that the proliferation of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons poses a threat to international peace and security. He also reiterated his demand that the reports of the expert council set up specifically for this matter must contain reliable and objective assessments, analyzes and recommendations.

The Security Council extended its mandate from Resolution 1874 to monitor sanctions against the government of North Korea, which was granted after the 2009 underground nuclear test . The Expert Council is to submit a first report to the Security Council by November 12, 2011 and a second report 30 days before the end of the mandate.
