The UN Security Council Resolution 1999 is a resolution that the United Nations Security Council decided on 13 July 2011 without voting. With the resolution, the Security Council proposed to the General Assembly of the United Nations that South Sudan be accepted as a member of the United Nations. The resolution follows the request of the South Sudanese President Salva Kiir Mayardit . With the admission of South Sudan, the United Nations now has 193 member states.
