The RTG Retail Trade Group Ltd. is a food retail joint venture trading company real GmbH , METRO Germany GmbH , Globus SB-Warenhaus Holding GmbH & Co. KG , Bartels-Ness Handelsgesellschaft mbH & Co. The seven trading company RTG Retail Trade Group GmbH with a total of 119,000 employees represented nationwide around 443 hypermarkets and C + C markets , 492 hypermarkets and 2,200 supermarkets and petrol stations . The group represents external sales of over 27 billion euros (as of 2020), making it the largest trade cooperation in Germany.

In addition to purchasing food, non-food and ultra-fresh produce, other functional areas such as technical purchasing, supply chain management and sub-areas of administration are also brought together under the umbrella of RTG Retail Trade Group GmbH . Long-term goals are to secure the future of companies to maintain a diverse market structure, to increase competitiveness and to realize cost advantages and increase efficiency for sustainable sales and earnings improvement.

history

In 1982 BBB & R Handels GmbH was founded by the owner-managed food retailers Bartels-Langness Handelsgesellschaft, Bremke & Hoerster, J. Bünting and Ratio GmbH, based in Oldenburg.

In April 2005, Hamburg became the new company headquarters. Since then, BBB & R has represented the shareholders Bartels-Langness Handelsgesellschaft, J. Bünting Beteiligungs AG, coop eG and ZEV Zentraleinkauf- und Vertrieb Süd-Handelsgesellschaft.

In May 2010 the purchasing company Privates Handelshaus Deutschland (PHD) GmbH was founded and took over all business activities of BBB & R. Partners are Bartels-Langness Handelsgesellschaft, Georg Jos. Kaes GmbH, K + K Klaas & Kock, Ratio and Wasgau Produktions & Handels AG.

In October 2015 real GmbH joined the PHD as a cooperation partner for METRO Cash & Carry Deutschland GmbH, including the mandate for comparable food retail ranges.

In April 2017, the Retail Trade Group GmbH (RTG) was founded in Hamburg, which took over all business activities of the PHD.

In July 2018, tegut ... Gute Lebensmittel GmbH joined as the seventh company of RTG. With external sales of over 23.7 billion euros (as of 2019), RTG is currently the largest retail cooperation in Germany.

In May 2019, RTG launched the largest energy efficiency network in German retail in Berlin. The group is committed to saving at least 20 gigawatt hours of electricity by the end of 2020.

In February 2020, the investment company SCP Group in Luxembourg reached an agreement with METRO AG for the 100 percent takeover of real GmbH. Real GmbH remained a partner of RTG.

In August 2020, Globus and METRO Deutschland became partners of RTG.
