Reto Hänny (born April 13, 1947 in Tschappina , Canton of Graubünden ) is a Swiss writer .

Life

Hänny spent his childhood on his parents' mountain farm . After elementary school he attended the teacher training college in Chur , where he was trained as a primary school teacher. He practiced this profession for a few years, after which he traveled extensively in Europe, North Africa and the Near and Middle East and stayed in Venice , Amsterdam and regularly in Paris for study purposes . After working as a stage worker at the city ​​theater in Chur, he moved to Zurich , where he began studying German and ethnology at the University of Zurich and the ETH Zurich .

In September 1980 he witnessed the youth riots in Zurich and their suppression by the police. Since Hänny himself had been arrested and ill-treated at the time, he left Switzerland and moved to Berlin; He processed his Zurich experiences in the book Zurich, early September .

At the Klagenfurt Days of German-Language Literature in 1994, he won the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize with his text Guai .

Reto Hänny is a member of the Association of Authors of Switzerland . He lives in Zollikon and Graubünden.
