The Rettbach is a tributary of the Rot , a tributary of the Apfelstädt in Thuringia . Together with the red it forms the surface water body Roth . According to § 3 of the Thuringian Water Act, the water body has the status of a water body of the second order and is therefore the maintenance burden of the communities through which the water flows.
Siebgen source
The Siebgen spring is located northeast of the village of Kleinrettbach . The Rettbach rises here. The source is surrounded by a wall with a fence in a square with an edge length of approx. 1.6 m. The water level of the spring water is about 1 m deep. The spring never ran dry. When there was severe drought and drought in the 1880s, the residents of the surrounding towns came here to fetch water.

Today the stream flows past the southern edge of Kleinrettbach, then continues through Großrettbach and Cobstädt . There it flows into the Rot , which comes from Siebleben and Tüttleben and flows into the Apfelstädt in nearby Wandersleben .

The Rettbach water was previously used to brew beer in Kleinrettbach . The stream used to flow through the sheep wash house and the flax rotting . In 1911 Kleinrettbach was one of the first villages to have a water pipe.
