The Reussische Kammerorchester eV is a chamber orchestra of the Philharmonic Orchestra Altenburg Gera and is based in Gera .

history

The predecessor of the Reuss Chamber Orchestra was the Gera City Theater Chamber Orchestra , which was founded in the 1960/61 season by the first concertmaster Herbert Voigt and members of the Gera symphony orchestra . In 1989, the Reuss Younger Line was renamed the Reuss Chamber Orchestra and an association of the same name was founded in recognition of the contributions made by the Reuss Younger Line Princely House in the construction and management of the Reussian Theater .

The artistic directors were concertmasters Herbert Voigt (1961 to 1993), Alexander Bartha (1995 to 2004) and Zsolt – Tihamér Visontay (2006 to 2008). Günter Gäbler was the managing director from 1993 to 2014 and Robert Hartung has been since 2014.

Concerts

The annual highlight in the work of the Reussian Chamber Orchestra is the responsible organization of a philharmonic concert in the Altenburg Gera Theater with its venues Gera Concert Hall and Altenburg State Theater .

In addition, the Reussian Chamber Orchestra is an integral part of numerous church music events and concert series in the region around Gera. Regular concert venues include Gera , Zeitz , Weida , Neustadt (Orla) , Eisenberg , Pößneck , Saalfeld and Burgk Castle .

Another close collaboration connects the Reussian Chamber Orchestra with the Frauenkirche Dresden . In 2005 it played in the first two church services for the celebration of its consecration, in the ZDF New Year's church services in 2008, 2010 and 2011 and in numerous church services and Sunday music.

Guest tours have taken the Reuss Chamber Orchestra through Germany, Bulgaria and Austria .

Guest conductors and guest soloists

In addition to the fact that the Reussian Chamber Orchestra regularly gives members of the Philharmonic Orchestra Altenburg Gera the opportunity to perform as a soloist, it develops its musical profile further through cooperation with well-known guests.

Guest conductors were Georg Fritzsch , Matthias Grünert , Michael Güttler , Dominik Beykirch and Werner Erhardt . Guest soloists were Gerhard Bosse , Karl Suske , Ludwig Güttler , Burkhard Glaetzner , Michael Sanderling , Michael Schönheit , Naji Hakim , Andreas Hartmann , Martin Funda and Daniel Hope . In addition, the Reussian Chamber Orchestra accompanied the St. Thomas Choir Leipzig , the Dresden Kreuzchor and the Chamber Choir of the Frauenkirche Dresden .
