Revok
Revok (* 1977 in Riverside , California ; real name Jason Williams ) is an American urban and graffiti artist .
Revok became known to a wider audience through his legal battle against the fashion label H&M , who used his art in public spaces for advertising purposes without authorization.
Life
Motivated by the comics collection and the covers on his father's music collection albums, Revok began creating graffiti in the 1990s . After being banned from creating more graffiti in Los Angeles after several arrests for vandalism, he moved to Detroit in 2012 . The book Revok: Made in Detroit was published in 2014 from his work in Detroit .
Arrests for vandalism
Revok has been arrested several times for vandalism based on unauthorized graffiti art. He was released on parole following his first arrest in Los Angeles in 2009. A short time later he was arrested in Australia where he was creating illegal graffiti at the airport. He was arrested again in the United States on suspicion of violating his probation requirements from his first arrest. During the subsequent house search, several hundred spray paint cans were seized, the possession of which he was forbidden according to his probation requirements. In 2011 he was arrested again in Los Angeles for vandalism. His bail set a new record for vandalism at $ 320,000. He served 180 days of his sentence in prison.
