Rezi is a municipality in Zala County in Hungary in the northwest of the Keszthely Mountains. The place with its 1100 inhabitants lies between Cserszegtomaj and Zalaszántó .

history

The name of the village is probably of Slavic origin, as the word "rez" in this language means a mountain ridge or ridge . The story is closely linked to the local castle on the back of the 418 meter high hill not far from the settlement.

Worth seeing

Rezi castle ruins
  • Only a few walls and bulwarks from the 13th and 14th centuries can be seen of the castle ruins . Some standing walls are between 8 and 10 meters high and 120–180 cm thick.
  • The Csárda, a former hunting lodge from 1728, was a meeting place for the robbers and highwaymen of the surrounding Bakony Hills. Savanyú Jóska, Vak Illés and Kőkes Pista were ambushed and killed by the local police in 1862 in the inn by treason. Their graves are on a willow tree next to the hostel. This building is built in the style of a farmhouse and now houses a restaurant.
