Vonyarcvashegy is a Hungarian large village in the district Keszthely in Zala county .
Geographical location
Vonyarcvashegy is located on the northwestern bank of Lake Balaton, four kilometers east of Keszthely . The neighboring communities are Gyenesdiás in the west and Balatongyörök in the east.
history
Today's Vonyarcvashegy was created around 1850 when the villages of Vonyarc and Vashegy merged . Already in the Middle Ages the place was a center of wine growing. Vonyarcvashegy has been a popular resort and holiday destination since the middle of the 20th century. Until 2007, the large municipality belonged to the Keszthely-Hévíz Small Area , then to the Keszthely Small Area and from 2013 to the Keszthely District.
