Rhabdoweisia (German striped pearl moss ) is a genus of deciduous moss from the family Oncophoraceae .

features

They are small mosses that grow in loose green cushioned lawns. The trunks, which are a few millimeters to 3 centimeters high, are forked and rhizoid-tomentose below. The trunk cross-section does not have a central cord. The dry, curled, moist upright to protruding leaves are lanceolate-tongue-shaped to linear-lanceolate, have flat or rolled edges and a strong rib that ends in front of the leaf tip. The smooth to slightly nipple-like lamina cells are irregularly square above and rectangular below; Leaf-wing cells are not differentiated.

The species are autocratic (antheridia and archegonia on different branches of the same plant). The upright, yellow, 2 to 6 millimeter long seta has an upright, oval spore capsule with 8 stripes or furrows and 16 undivided peristomal teeth . The capsule lid is long and crooked, the kalyptra cap-shaped.

Location claims and distribution

Rhabdoweisia species avoid lime and colonize rocks and crevices. They are mainly found in the northern hemisphere and also in South America, Africa and on islands in the Pacific Ocean.
