Rhode (wife of Helios)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rhode ( Greek  Ῥόδη ) is the namesake in Greek mythology for the island of Rhodes and consort of the sun god Helios . It cannot be separated from Rhodes ( Ῥόδος ), so the genealogical relationships are accordingly confused. She is the daughter

It is almost certain that she was the wife of Helios, although after a scholion at Lycophron she was also married to Poseidon.

Her children with Helios are the Heliadai , seven sons, namely Ochimos , Aktis , Kerkaphos , Kandalos , Triopas , Makareus and Phaethon and Tenages , as well as a daughter, Elektryone . According to a Homerscholion, on the other hand, the children are Phaethon and the three Heliads : Lampetie , Phaetusa and Aigle . Here the children of the Clymene with Helios were assigned to her.
