The Rhonelle is a river in France that runs in the Nord department , in the Hauts-de-France region . It rises in the municipality of Locquignol , in the Avesnois Regional Nature Park , generally drains in a north-westerly direction and, after 32 kilometers in the urban area of Valenciennes, flows into a partially underground drainage channel. This leads over the old arm of the river called Vieil Escaut (old Scheldt) to the canalized Scheldt , where it joins as a right tributary.
