Ricardo Cardoso Nheu

Ricardo Cardoso Nheu is a businessman and politician from East Timor . He is a member of the Frenti-Mudança (FM) and belongs to the ethnic minority in Timor .

Nheu studied at the Fatumaca Technical School .

In the elections for the constituent assembly in 2001 , Nheu was on number 49 on the FRETILIN party list. Although the party received only 43 places on the list, MPs gave up their seats, so that Nheu should also have a chance. However, he is not listed as a Member of Parliament and therefore seems to have given up a seat himself.

Within FRETILIN, Nheu joined the reform movement FRETILIN Mudança , whose members were expelled after the lost election in 2007 and eventually ran as Frenti-Mudança as a separate party. In the parliamentary elections in East Timor in 2012 , Nheu ran for fourth place on the list, but the FM only won two seats in the national parliament . Here, too, Nheu could have moved up to parliament, but was sworn in on August 8, 2012 for the fifth government as State Secretary for Trade. The term of office ended on February 16, 2015.

In 2016, the District Court sentenced Dili Nheu to three years suspended prison sentence and paid US $ 14,900 in damages for illegal land occupation. In the same year, Nheu was later elected Deputy Secretary General of the party and in 2017 General Secretary for the period until 2022.

In 2017 Nheu was number 2 and in 2018 number 7 of the party alliance Frenti Dezenvolvimentu Demokratiku (FDD), to which the FM belonged, but both times it was not enough for Nheu to get a seat in parliament.
