Richard Wilfried Drautz (born January 29, 1953 in Heilbronn ; † May 7, 2014 ibid) was a German politician ( FDP ) and self-employed winemaker .

Life

After attending the Wartberg School in Heilbronn, Drautz completed an apprenticeship in viticulture and passed the master viticulture exam in 1976. From 1978 to 2006 he was co-owner and manager of the Heilbronn winery Drautz-Able.

Drautz was politically involved in the FDP. Since 1986 he has been the chairman of the Heilbronn city association and from 1992 to 2006 he also represented the party in the Heilbronn municipal council. In 1992 he was elected to the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg for constituency 19 (Eppingen) ( second mandate ). In 1996 and 2001 he was re-elected. In the 2006 election he missed re-election. In the state elections in 2011 he ran in constituency 18 (Heilbronn) and achieved a result above the national average with 6.1 percent of the votes, but was unable to win a second mandate and thus failed to (re-) enter the state parliament.

From 1999 to mid-2006, Drautz was also treasurer of his party in the Baden-Württemberg state association.

From 2006 to 2011 he was State Secretary in the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economics . To do this, he had to resign from his council in Heilbronn.

On the evening of May 7, 2014, he suffered a heart attack at the wheel of his car and died despite attempting resuscitation. Drautz was married and has a child.

Honorary positions

Drautz held several honorary positions. Among other things, he was an honorary member of the board of the district farmers' association Heilbronn e. V., chairman of the Theodor-Heuss-Freundeskreis in Baden-Württemberg e. V. and member of the board of directors of the Reinhold Maier Foundation .

Awards

In 2003, Drautz received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon . A few days before his death, on April 27, 2014, he received the Reinhold Maier Medal .
