Richard Hanssen

Richard Hanssen (born August 24, 1864 in Travemünde , † December 10, 1945 in Hamburg ) was a German ophthalmologist and university professor in Hamburg.

Life

The doctor's son passed the Abitur at the Katharineum in Lübeck in 1884 and studied medicine in Zurich , Freiburg i. B. , Kiel , Berlin and Würzburg . In 1885 he became a member of the Corps Holsatia . In 1889 he was licensed as a doctor in Kiel and was awarded a Dr. med. PhD . In 1892/93 he was an assistant doctor at the General Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf . In 1894 he settled in Hamburg as an ophthalmologist. At the same time he was the head of the eye clinic at the polyclinic of the Patriotic Women's Aid Association . He got involved a. a. as a school doctor , was a founding member of the Association for School Health Care in Hamburg in 1904 , joined the Hamburg Medical Association and the Association of Specialists of Hamburg-Altona in 1906 and was a member of the German Ophthalmological Society . The employment of school doctors and regular school examinations in Hamburg went among other things. a. back on their initiative. From 1914 to 1931 he was the chief senior physician in the eye department at AK Barmbek . He completed his habilitation in 1921 and became a private lecturer at the University of Hamburg . In 1927 he was awarded the title of professor. In 1933 he signed the confession of German professors to Adolf Hitler and in 1934 he joined the Nazi lecturers' association .
