Richard Hornung

Richard Hornung (born February 16, 1950 in Bethlehem , Pennsylvania , † December 30, 1995 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American costume designer .

Life

Hornung attended the University of Illinois and moved to New York City after completing his master's degree . There he worked at various regional theaters and off-Broadway . He also worked for the Juilliard School of Drama and was responsible for the costume design for two Broadway productions ( George Bernard Shaw's Candida and the musical The News ). His Hollywood career began in 1986 with Arizona Junior by Ethan and Joel Coen , with whom he then worked in other films, Miller's Crossing , Hudsucker - The Big Leap and Barton Fink . For the latter, he was nominated for an Oscar in 1992 . His last film as a costume designer was the political thriller City Hall , which was released in 1996.

Hornung died at the age of 45 of complications from an AIDS- related illness in a Los Angeles hospital.
