Richard Jouve (born October 25, 1994 in Briançon ) is a French cross-country skier .

Career

Jouve, who competes for the Montgenevre Val Claree, took part in junior competitions of the Alpine Cup until 2014 , in which he took first place in the U20 overall ranking in the 2013/14 season . In January 2012 he came in 24th place in the sprint and 23rd place over 10 km classic at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck . At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2014 in Val di Fiemme , he won silver with the relay. At the beginning of the 2014/15 season he took part in the Alpencup . With good results, he started the World Cup in Otepää for the first time in January 2015 . He reached 49th place in the sprint. In February 2015, he took fourth place in the sprint at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2015 in Almaty . In the same month he got his first World Cup points in Östersund with 19th place in the sprint. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2015 in Falun , he came in 33rd place in the sprint. In March 2015 he achieved his first World Cup podiums with third place in sprint in Lahti . He finished the season in seventh place in the U23 ranking and fourth place in the overall ranking of the Alpine Cup . After finishing 29th and 49th at the beginning of the 2015/16 season in the Sprint World Cups in Davos and Toblach , he finished second over 15 km classic in the Alpine Cup in Planica in January 2016 . There he came third a week later at the World Cup in the sprint and together with Valentin Chauvin in the team sprint. The following month he achieved seventh place over 15 km classic and fifth place in the sprint at the U23 World Championships in Rasnov . At the end of the season he finished 45th in the Ski Tour Canada . He came in second place in the sprint stage in Gatineau . He reached 39th place in the overall World Cup, 16th place in the Sprint World Cup and third place in the U23 classification. In the 2016/17 season he reached four points in the World Cup, including third place in the sprint stage at the World Cup final in Québec . At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti he finished 16th in the sprint and together with Lucas Chanavat 11th in the team sprint. In the following season he achieved five top ten placements, eighth place in the Sprint World Cup. At the highlight of the season, the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he took 16th place in the sprint and, together with Maurice Manificat, won the bronze medal in the team sprint.

At the beginning of the 2018/19 season, Jouve won the sprint at the Alpencup in Valdidentro and came second in the Tour de Ski sprint stage in Toblach . At the season highlight, the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tyrol , he won the bronze medal with the relay. He was also fifth there together with Lucas Chanavat in the team sprint and fourth in the sprint. At the end of the season he achieved third place in the sprint in Drammen and 25th place at the World Cup finals in Québec and thus reached 27th place in the overall World Cup and ninth place in the Sprint World Cup. In the 2019/20 season he came with five top ten placements in the sprint, including third place in Ruka and Lenzerheide , 33rd place in the overall World Cup and 11th place in the Sprint World Cup.
