Richard Müller (born March 31, 1920 in Lichtenfels , † July 11, 1986 in Bayreuth ) was a German administrative officer and politician ( SPD ). He was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament from 1962 to 1972 and a member of the German Bundestag from 1972 to 1983 .

Life

Müller was born the son of a businessman. After attending elementary school and acquiring the upper secondary qualification at a secondary school, he completed training for the senior administrative service. In May 1938 he entered the Bavarian civil service and received a position at the district office in Coburg . From 1940 to 1945 he took part in World War II as a soldier on the Eastern Front . He was wounded in August 1944 and at the end of the war he was taken prisoner by the Soviets, from which he was released in August 1945.

After his return from captivity, Müller worked again for the district office in Coburg before he was transferred to the government of Upper Franconia in Bayreuth in February 1949 . Here he was chairman of the staff council from 1951 to 1969, most recently as senior official. In addition, he worked from 1960 to 1970 as chairman of VfB Bayreuth . From 1965 he was district chairman of the Bavarian Football Association (BFV) for the district of Upper Franconia and from 1976 vice-president of the BFV. He was also a member of the board of directors of the non-profit Bayreuth housing association.

Müller joined the SPD in 1959 and was elected chairman of the SPD district association Bayreuth-Stadt in 1960. From 1979 he was chairman of the SPD sub-district of Bayreuth.

From 1960 to 1962 he was a member of the Bayreuth city council. In the 1962 state election , Müller was elected to the Bavarian state parliament for the first time, to which he was a member until his resignation on December 4, 1972. Louis Welsch replaced him as a substitute . In the state parliament from 1966 he was chairman of the committee for petitions and complaints.

Müller was a member of the German Bundestag from 1972 to 1983. In parliament he represented the direct mandate in constituency 223 (Bayreuth) from 1972 to 1976 . In the remaining electoral periods he entered the Bundestag via the SPD state list of Bavaria. He was a member of parliament from 1972 and deputy chairman of the Petitions Committee from 1976 to 1983 . From 1972 to March 1973 he was a member of the Committee for Economic Cooperation , then a member of the Legal Committee until June 1975 and then a member of the Committee on Food, Agriculture and Forestry until 1976 . In addition, he was a member of the Sports Committee from 1976 to 1980 and a member of the Committee on Internal German Relations from 1980 to October 1982.
