Richard McBride (special effects artist)

Richard "Rich" McBride is a special effects artist who was nominated for an Oscar in 2016 for Best Visual Effects .

Life

He studied at American University in Washington, DC and San Francisco State University, and received his Bachelor of Arts in film and animation. He then worked for the computer game company Rocket Science Games , where he acquired his knowledge of computers. This was followed in 2009 by working at Industrial Light & Magic as a digital post-production worker on films such as Transformers: Age of Downfall .

He spent two years in London at Framestore , where he worked on Gravity . He then went back to the United States for Industrial Light & Magic , where he first worked again as a digital post-processor and later as a VFX supervisor .

In 2016 he was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Visual Effects , along with Matt Shumway , Jason Smith and Cameron Waldbauer for his work on The Revenant .
