Richard Pitterle (born March 2, 1959 in Most , Czechoslovakia ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ) and was a member of the German Bundestag from 2009 to 2017 .

Life

Pitterle moved to the Federal Republic of Germany at the age of eleven and lived in Sindelfingen . After completing his Abitur at grammar school in the Pfarrwiesen Sindelfingen , he studied law at the University of Tübingen . Pitterle has been working as a lawyer in Stuttgart since 1990 ; since 2003 he has been a specialist lawyer for labor law .

Pitterle was already politically active in his youth and at the age of 15 was a member of the Association of Those Persecuted by the Nazi Regime - Association of Antifascists (VVN / BdA). There he held leading positions from 1975 to 1990 as district chairman and member of the state board of the VVN-BdA. In 1980 he co-founded the peace movement in the Boeblingen district and worked in the Boeblingen Peace Association and the EntRüstung peace group .

Political career

In December 1990 Pitterle joined the Democratic Socialism Party (PDS). From 1991 to 1998 he was treasurer of the PDS regional association Baden-Württemberg, from 1998 to 2005 he held the same function in the Baden-Württemberg Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung , of which he was also a founding member. With the establishment of the PDS district association Böblingen in 1998, Pitterle became a member of the local board, which he has chaired since 2002. With the merger of the PDS with the WASG in June 2007, he also became district chairman of the Böblingen district association of the new Die Linke party. In the local elections in June 2009 and May 2014 he was elected to the municipal council of Sindelfingen. In the federal elections in 2009 and 2013 , Richard Pitterle entered the German Bundestag via the Baden-Württemberg state list .

During the 17th legislative period of the German Bundestag, he was a full member of the Finance Committee and a deputy member of the Legal and Consumer Protection Committee, where he was responsible for insolvency law and commercial law . In the 18th legislative period of the German Bundestag , he continued his work in the Finance and Legal Committee and, in addition, became a member of the Mediation Committee and the Election Committee for election (since 2015 for nomination to the plenary) of half of the judges of the Federal Constitutional Court . He was the tax policy spokesman for his group and deputy chairman of the German-Czech and German-Slovak parliamentary groups.
