Richard Scannell

Richard Scannell (born May 12, 1845 in Cloyne , County Cork , Ireland , † January 8, 1916 ) was Bishop of Omaha and previously the first Bishop of Concordia .

Life

Richard Scannell received the sacrament of ordination for the Diocese of Nashville on February 26, 1871 .

On August 8, 1887, Pope Leo XIII appointed him . the first bishop of the diocese of Concordia established a few days earlier. The Archbishop of Chicago , Patrick Augustine Feehan , donated him episcopal ordination on November 30 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Louisville , William George McCloskey , and the Bishop of Nashville, Joseph Rademacher .

On January 30, 1891 Pope Leo XIII appointed him. to the Bishop of Omaha .
