Richard Tyler

Richard "Dick" Owen Tyler (born May 7, 1928 in Riverside , California , † October 24, 1990 in Los Angeles , California) was an American sound engineer and sound engineer who was nominated four times for the Oscar for best sound .

Life

Tyler was particularly involved in the production of several successful feature films in the 1970s.

At the 1976 Academy Awards , he was nominated for an Oscar for Best Sound for the first time with Arthur Piantadosi , Les Fresholtz and Al Overton Jr. for 700 miles west (1975). In 1977 another nomination followed in this category with Donald O. Mitchell , Douglas O. Williams and Harold M. Etherington for Trans-America-Express (1976), as well as in 1978 with Robert Knudson , Robert J. Glass and Jean-Louis Ducarme for Breathless with Fear (1977).

Most recently, Tyler was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Sound at the 1982 Academy Awards , together with Michael J. Kohut , Jay M. Harding and Al Overton Jr. for Pennies from Heaven , but again did not win the trophy.
