Harding has worked on 54 feature films during his career, the majority of which were made in the 1980s. In addition to his work for the film, he was also involved in numerous television productions, including the series Fame - The Road to Fame , The Young Riders and In the Heat of the Night .
1981 he was responsible for Fame - The path to glory along with Michael J. Kohut , Aaron Rochin and Christopher Newman for the Oscar in the category Best Sound nominated, but the award went this year to Irvin Kershners science fiction film The Empire Strikes back . The following year he was nominated for a second and final Oscar nomination for Herbert Ross ' musical Tanz in den Wolken , this time with Michael J. Kohut, Richard Tyler and Al Overton Jr. This year the award went to Steven Spielbergs Jäger of the lost treasure .
