Arthur Piantadosi

Arthur Piantadosi (born August 4, 1916 in New York , † February 23, 1994 in Newport Beach ) was an American sound engineer . In 1976 he won the Academy Award for Best Sound for his work on the film The Untouchables . He also received six other nominations in this category.

Life

Piantadosi first worked as a sound engineer in the film In Cold Blood , a film adaptation of the novel in cold blood , in 1967 . By 1986 he worked on more than 80 films.

Piantadosi received a total of seven Oscar nominations in the Best Sound category . In 1977 he won the award in this category with the film Die Unbrechlichen . In 1973 he also won the British Academy Film Award for Best Sound for the film Cabaret . Another nomination for the BAFTA Awards followed in 1977 for Die Unbrechlichen .

His last film was Rocket Man in 1986. He died in 1994 at the age of 77.
