Richard Winkels

Richard Winkels (born July 21, 1920 in Beelen , † February 17, 2009 in Warendorf ) was a German politician ( SPD ). He was in the 4th and again from the 6th to the 10th legislative period (with interruptions) a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia .

Life

Winkels attended elementary school and completed military service after graduating from high school . He then completed vocational training as a journalist and worked as an editor in Warendorf from 1948 to 1968 . After that he worked until 1985 as an administrative employee and head of the Office for Sports and Transport, Press and Public Relations in the Warendorf city administration.

Winkels joined the SPD in 1950. From 1955 to 1975 he was district chairman of his party in the Warendorf district , from 1968 to 1975 also chairman of the Münster sub-district , then until 1981 chairman of the Warendorf sub-district. From 1963 to 1973 he was a member of the SPD state committee and from 1970 to 1973 a member of the board of the SPD North Rhine-Westphalia .

Winkels was from 1952 to 1968 a member of the council of the city of Warendorf and from 1954 chairman of the SPD parliamentary group . From 1952 to 1961 and from 1964 to 1968 he was a member of the Warendorf district assembly and from 1964 also chairman of the SPD parliamentary group. From 1978 he was a member of the ÖTV trade union . Winkels was Vice President from 1985 to 1987 and then from October 1987 President of the State Sports Association of North Rhine-Westphalia .

On October 4, 1961 Richard angle acquired for the first time a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia, when he for the German Bundestag elected representatives Else Zimmermann nachrückte. At the end of the fourth electoral term on July 20, 1962, he left the state parliament. In the 6th electoral term, on September 16, 1968, he replaced the deceased MP Hans Potyka again in the state parliament.
