The Rifugio Elena is a refuge in the Aosta Valley in the Graian Alps . It is located at an altitude of 2062 m in the Val Ferret side valley on the Pré de Bar area within the municipality of Courmayeur . The hut is managed from the beginning of June to mid-September and offers 115 mountaineers sleeping places during this time.
The refuge is located on the Tour du Mont-Blanc mountain trail .

From Courmayeur, drive towards the Val Ferret side valley. There is a parking lot near the Arnouvaz district (1769 m), from where the hike begins.
The entire route from the parking lot near Arnouvaz to the Rifugio Elena, which is not difficult, takes about 1 hour.
history
The Rifugio Elena was first built shortly before the Second World War, but was destroyed by an avalanche in 1960. In 1995 the hut was opened in its current form. The hut is dedicated to Elena of Montenegro . Elena was the wife of King Victor Emmanuel III.

The Col du Petit Ferret (2,488 m) and Col du Grand Ferret (2,537 m) passes can be reached from Rifugio Elena.
