Airport policy

Since Fuhrer's move to the Department of Economics, like all of her predecessors in office, she has been almost exclusively associated with airport policy. Rita Fuhrer is considered the mother of the Zurich Aircraft Noise Index (ZFI). In contrast to the so-called ceiling initiative, which would like to stipulate a maximum number of 250,000 flight movements per year at the airport , the ZFI is based on the number of people affected by aircraft noise : The aim of the ZFI is to reduce the number of people affected by noise instead of a blanket limit the number of flight movements.
