Federal Council election 2000
In the Federal election in 2000 was on December 6, 2000 in a by-election Samuel Schmid ( SVP ) of the Federal Assembly as a successor to the retiring Adolf Ogi (SVP) in the Swiss Federal Council selected.
Starting position
According to the magic formula , the SVP was entitled to be allocated a seat in the Federal Council. Four candidates are available within the party: Christoffel Brändli , Roland Eberle , Rita Fuhrer and Samuel Schmid . On November 28, 2000, the SVP parliamentary group selected Rita Fuhrer and Roland Eberle as official candidates. However, Samuel Schmid and Christoffel Brändli, who were not included, stuck to their candidacy.
The Greens had 2,000 on 25 November Cécile Bühlmann as explosive candidate set.
