Federal Council election 1991
On December 4, 1991, the general election of the Federal Council took place in Switzerland . The two chambers of the newly elected parliament, the United Federal Assembly , elected the government of Switzerland , the Bundesrat , for a term of office from 1992 to 1995. The seats were ordered individually in the order of the age of office of the seat holder.
All previous Federal Councilors ran for re-election and were each confirmed in the first ballot.

Election of the Federal Chancellor
The incumbent Chancellor François Couchepin , who had been elected six months earlier, ran for re-election and was confirmed in office with 156 votes.
Election of the Federal President
René Felber was elected Federal President for 1992 with 158 votes and Adolf Ogi was elected Vice President with 163 votes.
