Federal Council election 2006
In the 2006 Federal Council elections on June 14, 2006, Doris Leuthard ( CVP ) was elected by the United Federal Assembly as a replacement for the resigned Joseph Deiss in the Swiss Federal Council. She had been officially proposed by the parliamentary group of her party and was elected in the first ballot with an absolute majority of 118 votes with 133 votes.
