Federal Council election 1995
On December 13, 1995, the general election of the Federal Council took place in Switzerland . The two chambers of the newly elected parliament, the United Federal Assembly , elected the Swiss government, the Bundesrat , for a term of office from 1996 to 1999. The seats were ordered individually in the order of the age of office of the seat holder.
After the replacement election a few months earlier, in which Moritz Leuenberger had been elected as the successor to Otto Stich, all previous members of the Federal Council ran again. The distribution of seats was not questioned by any Bundesrat party; but the Greens claimed a seat in the Federal Council. They unsuccessfully attacked the first four seats.
