Normal way | East ridge |
The knight head is a 3006 m above sea level. A. high, prominent mountain in Rauris , about 3 km north of the main Alpine ridge . It separates the Krumltal from the Hüttwinkltal. On the slopes of the mountain there are sites for minerals ( rock crystal , pyrite , actinolite ), some of which were also used for tourism. In the Ritterkar (east of the summit) gold was won in the 16th century.
Climbs
Since there are no marked paths on the Ritterkopf, good orientation skills and safe weather are necessary for all climbs; it is surefootedness required in roadless terrain. Since there are no shelters on the mountain, you have to cover around 1800 meters of ascent and descent in one day.
- The normal ascent leads from the Alpengasthof Bodenhaus over the Ritterkaralm and the east ridge to the summit.
- The north ridge is specified in the 1986 Alpine Club Guide with difficulty UIAA I.
- The ascent from the Krumltal via the Gamskar, the Goldlacklscharte and the Südgrat (Goldlacklschneid) is also rated UIAA I in the same guide; because of a section of ridge with very brittle and sandy rock (near the Goldlacklscharte; partly riding ridge), it is only recommended for very experienced alpinists.
