The Roßkopf ( 725  m above sea  level ) is a densely wooded basalt cone southeast of Waldershof in the Upper Palatinate district of Tirschenreuth and belongs to the stone forest in the Fichtel Mountains .

geography

The Roßkopf is 3.2 km west-northwest of the Großer Teichelberg ( 685  m ). State road 2170 runs in the west from Waldershof to Fuchsmühl .

geology

There is a large basalt eruption area between Marktredwitz , Friedenfels , Konnersreuth and Seußen . It is the westernmost branch of the North Bohemian basalt volcanism. In the Miocene , liquid basalt mass came up through the granite .
